Prudential Ride London Surrey 100 - Please support me

For those of you who  know me, it may come as a bit of shock that having avoided pretty much any form of exercise for the last 30 years that I started cycling in July last year. If that's the case you'll probably also be shocked to find out that I have entered the Prudential London-Surrey 100 on 2nd August 2015  ( and yes that 100 refers to 100 MILES ).

Why? I keep asking myself! Two reasons really, the first was that i just wanted get a bit fitter. I found reaching 50 a little scary, I was over 17 stone, having a few health niggles, and much to Erin's disgust, snoring a lot!  so, I thought I should make some changes! Hey and as you can see I look pretty good in lycra....Mid life crisis? Probably.

More importantly, the second reason: Our family has been deeply effected by my brother in law's Multiple Sclerosis. Mark and my sister Jane's lives have been torn apart. In little more than a few years Mark has deteriorated to the point where he is bed bound, can't control his hands and is virtually blind. It's frightening. Apart from the occasional phone call and maybe a shoulder to cry on at family do's I'm no help at all to my big sister. Raising money by riding 6 or 7 hours round London for The Multiple Sclerosis Society is a small gesture at trying in some way to help.

Help me get round the 100 miles and get up Box and Leith Hills in good time by clicking on this link JustGiving  and sponsoring me. Your support means that The MS society can continue to fund vital research, provide information, support and services to people affected by MS and to fight for what people are entitled to. To see more about how your support helps, please visit the MS society's webpage:  http://www.mssociety.org.uk/get-involved/how-your-support-helps

If you can spread the word, share this info on facebook, google+, blogs, twitter and any other social media you can think of, I'd be really grateful.

Thank you

Jon
